Old calls expire.
Every daily brief carries an update time and an expiration time. Once expired, the page routes readers back to live sources instead of quietly carrying yesterday forward.
Conservative by design.
Our calls are limited to “Not a beginner day,” “Instructor decides” and “Possible learning window.” None means safe. Actual water, instructor judgment and personal ability control the decision.
No spot-blowing.
We cover legitimate public destinations, access and safety. We do not publish secret breaks, private access or crowd-dodging tactics.
We name the gap.
If a source is unavailable or stale, we say so. We do not invent readings, flatten a regional forecast into a precise break prediction or manufacture certainty.
The coast changes.
Visitors can report broken links, access changes, outdated facts and public safety information. Salt Hound verifies submissions before changing a guide.

No. Forecasts and observations are decision inputs, not permission to enter the water.
How often is the outlook updated?
The daily brief is scheduled for 6:00 a.m. Pacific and carries a visible expiration time. Material official alerts can supersede it at any time.
Why are beginner calls cautious?
Because crowd, cold water, currents, access, board control and local exposure cannot be reduced to wave height alone.
Will Salt Hound publish secret spots?
No. The guide covers established public destinations without exposing sensitive breaks or private access.
